National Economic Consultative Exercise 2019

In line with the budget consultations 2019-2020, the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) has set up two commissions, namely the Commission for Social Affairs and the Commission for Economic Affairs. Subsequently, the key areas of economic concern identified as priorities for the Commission on Economic Affairs include:

  1. Agri-business and food security,
  2. Traditional and emerging manufacturing,
  3. Demographics, openness and skills mismatch
  4. MSMEs and start-ups

In this context, the Economic Development Board (EDB), in collaboration the Commission for Economic Affairs of the NESC, is organising its first workshop dedicated to the agro-industry on 14th  March 2019 at Labourdonnais Hotel. This event will be launched by Honourable Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security and Chairman of the Commission for Economic Affairs of the NESC.

This workshop will serve as a platform for policy makers, Government technicians, researchers, the civil society and private operators to discuss on the prevailing challenges and barriers namely legal, regulatory, institutional, technical as well as policy in the agricultural sector including seafood.
