The meeting of the COMESA Council of Ministers held in 2020, directed the COMESA Secretariat to develop an online platform for Member States to exchange and share information on the availability of essential goods within the COMESA region as part of the response measures to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, the Secretariat has developed an online platform available on web page https://covid.comesa.int/.

Beyond sharing and exchange of information, the Portal is a COVID- 19 business facilitation solution for the COMESA region intended to bring the 21 Member States and its business community to a virtual information platform through which Member States will be able to share their trade related regulatory measures in response to COVID-19, their potential to produce and supply different types of goods, especially the essential products, food supplies as well as connect buyers to suppliers thereby promoting and fostering regional intra-COMESA trade. Furthermore, the platform will contain details about countries with shortages, countries with available supplies as well as facilitate the contacts of suppliers and buyers wherever they are within the region, in real time at a lower cost.

The Economic Development Board Mauritius (EDB) will serve as a national Admin to the portal - dealing with technical matters and administering the portal at the National Level and to specifically manage and/or control the portal in terms of vetting the information being loaded by other stakeholders.

In light of the above, the Economic Development Board Mauritius invites eligible companies engaged in the production of COVID-19 related essential products to express interest to feature their company profile, contact details and product portfolio on the online COMESA portal.

Interested parties are invited to submit the fill in the form with the requested information to manufacturingtraditional@edbmauritius.org.

EDB reserves the right to accept or reject any interest expressed and without thereby incurring any liability to any company or any obligation to inform companies of the grounds of its action.
