Mauritius Revenue Authority - Wage Support Scheme
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Renganaden Padayachy announces several measures to assist companies in the formal sector and employees through the Wage Support Scheme and special assistance from the Bank of Mauritius.
The state will contribute 50 % on the first Rs 25 of the monthly basic salary of an employee who receives up to Rs 50
"This outstanding support will cost the state Rs 2,6 billion for these two weeks", said Dr. Padayachy.
He said that in order to benefit from this financial support, employers must provide all the information through a form that is available on the Mauritius revenue authority (MRA) website on Monday, March 23
After an internal check, the organization will do as soon as necessary to credit the employer s' account.
For its part, the Bank of Mauritius offers special assistance to relieve families in difficulty: These families will have a six-month moratorium on capital refund on their "household loans" from commercial banks. Those who receive a basic salary of Rs 50 will pay no interest on household loans from commercial banks from April 1 to June 30, 2020.
