EDB Art Gallery

The Economic Development Board is actively engaging in its commitment to sustain and promote local creative and artistic talents as well as to forge the creative industry as a new economic pillar in the near future.

This year, several events have been planned as part of EDB’s ongoing initiatives to promote the local artists.

An art exhibition is being held from 15th July 2024 to 16th August 2024 at the EDB Art Gallery. Some 13 local artists are showcasing their captivating artworks.

The gallery will be open to visitors from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday.

Concept Note: My artwork depicts a colourful ballet of boats from a regatta event.
The regatta is a colourful and exciting boating event that is very present in the local scene of Mauritius. With their colourful sails and folkloric names, these boat races attract people of all ages. It is also a great opportunity for public gatherings and family time. It is important to note that the icon of the Regatta event in Mauritius is the one at Pointe des Regates.

Concept Note : Emergence of a city of hope in a changing time, from the past to a new future infuses of technology advent.. The artwork is a landscape at sunset with the presence of the moon, which created a whimsical effect in the sky. It’s about the birth of a new city, which brought hope. Hope for a new path for the economical development of the county. The Corps de Garde Mountain in the background creates a sense of depth and at the same time brings the scene to reality.
