Higher Education Fair, B2B Engagements and Business Forum Connected Mauritian Educational, Financial and ICT Institutions with Ethiopian Students, Businesses and Key Stakeholders
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – September 22, 2026: The Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius held four events in Addis Ababa, a Higher Education Fair, an African Ambassador’s roundtable, a B2B matching event and a Business Forum, to strengthen Mauritius–Ethiopia linkages in investment, education and technology.
The Higher Education Fair brought together 11 public and private educational institutions and more than 470 students, providing institutions with an opportunity to showcase their programmes and engage directly with prospective students exploring higher education opportunities abroad.
The B2B matchmaking session connected Mauritian ICT companies, including NVision IT Ltd, Realign Consulting Services Ltd and AIMIT Ltd, with around 15 Ethiopian businesses and decision-makers, creating opportunities for market access, investment and strategic partnerships.
The engagements culminated in a Business Forum themed, “Ethiopia-Mauritius: Connecting Finance, Investment, and Technology for Africa”, attended by over 120 stakeholders, including financial institutions, investors, ICT companies and government representatives. The Forum highlighted opportunities for stronger cross-border partnerships and positioned Mauritius as a strategic platform for investment and business expansion across Africa.
The Business Forum brought together a broad selection of key stakeholders, including financial institutions, investors, ICT firms, government stakeholders, and other key players, to support EDB’s broader Africa strategy to accelerate investment, boost exports, enhance business facilitation, and support economic transformation. This progress aims to foster regional growth and encourage stakeholders to see the long-term potential of Ethiopia-Mauritius collaborations.
Reflecting on the significance of the Ethiopian engagements, Nanda Narrainen, Director at EDB Mauritius, stated: “For decades, our relationship has been rooted in mutual respect. But today, as Africa stands at the precipice of a historic economic transformation driven by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), respect alone is no longer enough. We are called to translate our historical friendship into tangible economic partnerships to build bridges of capital, technology, and human intellect that connect Port Louis to Addis Ababa.”
