Ken Poonoosamy, CEO of EDB attends World Alliance of International Financial Centers Board Meeting in London
The CEO of the Economic Development Board (EDB), Mr. Ken Poonoosamy, who is also a Board Director of the WAIFC recently participated in the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) Board of Directors and Extraordinary General Meeting which took place in London. The conference, themed ‘Collaborating globally for sustainable growth’, was organized by TheCityUK and took place from 18 to 21 April.
Around 15 member countries of the WAIFC attended the meetings, which included discussions on promoting London as an International Financial Center (IFC) and the challenges and opportunities that IFCs worldwide must confront. Notable attendees included Sir Peter Estlin, an Alderman of the City of London, and Chris Hayward, Chairman of the Policy Committee, City of London Corporation.
Commenting on the Board Meeting, Keiichi Aritomo, Chair of the WAIFC Board stated: “This board meeting will provide our growing member network unique insight into one of the oldest financial centers and how they have developed the sector over a few hundred years. Our collaborative model helps members benefit and exchange ideas across borders and help develop the sector across regions. With a great agenda planned for this trip to London, the focus has been on Fintech and innovation, Inclusion, and COP28. We look forward to finalizing our plans in these spaces and bringing our perspectives to market throughout the rest of the year.”
