EDB Deepens Mauritius–Tanzania Ties, Unlocking Opportunities in Education, Financial Services and Technology
Higher Education Fair, Student Recruitment Agency Roundtable, B2B Engagements and Business Forum
Connected Mauritian Educational, Financial and ICT Institutions
with Tanzanian Students, Businesses and Key Stakeholders
The Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius has strengthened its engagement with Tanzania through a series of business, investment and education-focused activities in Dar es Salaam, bringing together Mauritian institutions, Tanzanian businesses, investors, students and other key stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration and market access.
A Higher Education Fair was conducted and provided a platform for 10 public and private education institutions to engage directly with 198 Tanzanian students and prospective applicants. Participating institutions presented their academic programmes and highlighted opportunities available to Tanzanian students seeking quality higher education and international learning experiences in Mauritius. The education programme also included a roundtable with 12 student recruitment agencies, facilitating discussions between Mauritian institutions and Tanzanian education intermediaries on student mobility, recruitment and promoting Mauritius as a higher education destination.
Through targeted B2B matchmaking, Mauritian ICT and professional services companies, including NVision IT Ltd, Realign Consulting Services Ltd and AIMIT Ltd., held discussions with 15 Tanzanian businesses and decision-makers on potential partnerships, technology solutions, investment opportunities and strategic avenues for expanding into new markets.
A key component of the programme was the Business Forum, themed “Tanzania-Mauritius: Connecting Finance, Investment and Technology for Africa,” which brought together over 120 representatives from financial institutions, investors, ICT companies, professional services firms and other stakeholders to explore opportunities across finance, investment, technology and digital transformation. The engagements also demonstrated Mauritius’ potential to serve as a platform through which Tanzanian businesses can access financial expertise, investment structures, technology partnerships and wider opportunities across Africa.
Commenting on the outcomes of the Tanzania engagements, Nanda Narrainen, Director at EDB Mauritius, stated: “To stand in Dar es Salaam is to stand at the crossroads of maritime trade, history, and Pan-African solidarity. The ties that bind Mauritius and Tanzania are not recent creations; they are deeply woven into the fabric of the Indian Ocean and our shared Swahili Coast heritage. Bringing Tanzanian enterprises together with Mauritian finance and technology partners creates a practical route to regional growth. Our priority is to turn those connections into viable business partnerships.”
