UK-Mauritius Investor Sentiment Report 2026
Understanding how Mauritius is perceived internationally has become increasingly important in a world where investment and sourcing decisions are shaped not only by economic fundamentals, but also by visibility, confidence and ease of engagement.
As global businesses reassess supply chains, diversify markets and compete under new regulatory and commercial realities, it is essential that Mauritius continues to listen to those making decisions about where to invest, trade and grow.
In this context, the Economic Development Board, in partnership with the UK Government and Invest Africa, conducted the UK-Mauritius Investor Sentiment Survey, funded by UK International Development.
The study aimed at gathering direct insights from UK investors and buyers. Through interviews and sentiment analysis, the report explores how Mauritius is perceived as an investment, trade and sourcing destination, what strengths continue to differentiate the country, and what factors influence whether interest ultimately translates into commercial engagement.
The findings present an encouraging but nuanced picture. Mauritius continues to be recognised for its stability, business environment, quality standards and regional positioning. At the same time, the report suggests that stronger visibility, clearer communication of opportunities and more proactive market engagement will be increasingly important to convert positive perception into investment and trade outcomes.
In the apparel sector, buyers expressed confidence in the quality and reliability of Mauritian suppliers, while also highlighting opportunities to strengthen market presence and discoverability.
This report provides practical insights to inform future action and support Mauritius’ continued positioning as a competitive, resilient and forward-looking economy.
