The Mauritius Investment Promotion & Residency Week in South Africa started on April 22nd in Johannesburg with a flagship business forum at the Maslow Hotel, Sandton. The Mauritius Roadshow in South Africa, organized by the Economic Development Board of Mauritius, is being led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Ken Poonoosamy.
The Business Forum saw a participation of 200 attendees, comprising the South African investors and business community as well as individuals seeking to relocate, live, retire or acquire immovable properties in Mauritius. The introductory remark was given by his excellency, Dr Vijaye Lutchmun, Mauritius High Commissioner to South Africa and through a keynote address by the CEO of the EDB, followed by a presentation on the opportunities and a panel discussion comprising executives from 2Futures, Absa and the SAB&T International Financial Consulting Ltd.
The Economic Development Board (EDB) played a pivotal role in a distinguished forum convened by Absa Bank Mauritius, gathering an elite audience of its esteemed wealth and private banking clientele in South Africa. With a focus on fostering meaningful connections and sharing valuable insights, the forum provided a platform for fruitful discussions and strategic exchanges.
The CEO of the EDB and John Tshabalala, Managing Executive of Absa Private Banking South Africa, delivered impactful introductory remarks, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation in the dynamic economic landscape. Following this, the forum saw insightful interventions from Jaysen Nundoosingh, Director of Wealth at Absa Bank Mauritius, and a comprehensive presentation by members of the EDB, highlighting the competitive advantages and investment potential of the region.
The event united approximately 130 High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) across diverse industries, emphasising a shared mission to promote sustainable growth and prosperity in the region. Their collective expertise underscored the power of collaboration in advancing economic development. Through strategic partnerships, the EDB and Absa Bank Mauritius are poised to drive positive change and unlock new opportunities for innovation and growth in the South African market and beyond.
A number of highly targeted one-to-one meetings were also held in the margins of the Roadshow with the South African investors based in Johannesburg.
The Roadshow, which is scheduled from April 22nd to April 30th, is being conducted across the four major cities in South Africa, namely Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban. The objective of the promotional mission is to consolidate our ties with South Africa as a key partner and market, and to explore new opportunities. Throughout the Roadshow, the EDB and accompanying private sector delegation will showcase Mauritius’ competitive and multi-faceted investment landscape, its robust financial services sector, thriving real estate opportunities, and its burgeoning residency options.
