Mauritius Trade & Investment Promotion Mission to South Africa

The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) held its General Assembly and the 27th World Investment Conference in New Delhi from 11 to 14 December 2023. The World Investment Conference (WIC) is the flagship event of WAIPA. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Empowering Investors: Investment Promotion Agencies Pioneering Future Growth’ – a major focus of the WIC was Climate FDI.
More than 50 IPAs from different parts of the world participated in the event. The Economic Development Board Mauritius was represented by its Chairman, Mr Hemraj Ramnial CSK and Seewraj Nundlall, Economic Counsellor at this important gathering of IPAs, government agencies, multilateral institutions and investors.
The event provided the platform to present investment opportunities. EDB Mauritius had the opportunity to showcase investment opportunities in the Tourism & Hospitality and Lifesciences Sectors.
Bilateral meetings were held with many IPAs such as Invest India, Austrade, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, Business France, EDB Madagascar, Switzerland Global Enterprise as well as with the CEO of WAIPA with the objective to discuss synergies, share insights on investment promotion, attraction & facilitation, discuss synergies and actions to engage into closer collaboration for mutual benefits of jurisdictions for investment and trade. The different IPAs have shown the eagerness to work together for the benefit of the investor community.
The positioning of Mauritius for investment and business in Mauritius and beyond was highlighted during the presentations and various meetings held.
