The EDB is leading the participation of a delegation of Textile and Apparel (T&A) companies to Premiere Vision (PV) Paris which will be held from 5 to 7 July 2022.
Mauritius has been a regular participant to this event and has, over the years, enabled Mauritian T&A manufacturers to secure clients in France and all over Europe. Mauritius is well-known for its short lead time and producing high quality of T&A goods using sustainable production processes while also abiding by international norms and standards. Ten Mauritian companies will showcase high quality fashionable products comprising T-shirts, Denim, Shirt, Knitwear and Suit among others.
Amid the adversities of the Covid-19 pandemic and disruptions in the global supply chain, the T&A sector has shown resilience and remained the single major contributor to domestic export earnings (goods). This sector generated MUR 21 Bn of exports in 2021, representing 40% of total domestic exports of Mauritius. The main export products to Europe in 2021 included light knits – T-shirt (29%), Men’s Denim (6%), Women knitted products 5%, Women denim 4%, Pullover and Cardigan 4% and Men’s’ shirts 2% among others.
PV is a major international tradeshow which features industries from yarn to fashion manufacturing. This event will attract more than 2000 exhibitors and 63,000 professionals from 120 countries to discuss business prospectives and build new collections. This will be an opportunity for participating companies to showcase their savoir-faire, connect with existing partners and establish contact with new buyers from Europe.
The EDB will also leverage on this event to promote the merits of Mauritius as a safe and secure investment destination in the sub-Saharan Africa for the manufacturing sector.
