The SheTrades Mauritius Hub in collaboration with the Indian Business Council, hosted a mentorship programme on Financial Management on Wednesday 10th July 2024. The workshop was aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in managing their finances and using budgeting as well as forecasting for strategic planning and financial control.
This initiative is aligned with the hub’s strategy to encourage women’s entrepreneurial development. The programme principally aimed at equipping women entrepreneurs with practical skills that they can immediately apply to their businesses, helping them to optimize the use of their resources and maximise their returns on investment.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr Suresh Nanda, President of the Indian Business Council (IBC), emphasised the significant role that women entrepreneurs play in the economic development of a country. He further stated the IBC’s commitment to collaborating with the SheTrades Mauritius Hub to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge to help their businesses grow.
Mrs. Nirmala Jeetah, Director Bio Industry, Project Development and the SheTrades Mauritius Hub at the EDB, reaffirmed the role of the hub in fostering economic growth and innovation for women-led businesses within the Mauritian business landscape and beyond. She emphasised the importance of like-minded women conducting sound financial planning, which is a key component of managing and driving business performance.
The engaging session was presented by Mr. Amit Gupta, a qualified Chartered Accountant and Law Graduate, Group Chairman of the AMG Group and Secretary of the Indian Business Council. He provided valuable insights on financial information specifically beneficial for women entrepreneurs, particularly in the preparation and interpretation of financial data. The SheTrades members present found the session very enriching and beneficial. Dedicated sessions on specific themes in financial management will be conducted in due course.
