EDB partners with STEM Racing™ to Inspire the Next Generation of Tech Innovators

The EDB is an event partner with the company ReUse ReVamp which is the local representative of the STEM Racing™ competition.

The “STEM Racing-participant and sponsor connect” was hosted at the head office of the EDB in Ebene on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

The STEM Racing Challenge is an educational competition that introduces students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) through a project-based experience that involves the design, manufacture and race of a miniature F1® racing car in an exciting STEM challenge.

The ‘’participant and sponsor connect’’ was organised to link participating teams to potential sponsors and collaborators willing to extend their support to this educational initiative. The event was honoured by the presence of Hon. Minister Avinash Ramtohul as Chief Guest, along with H.E. Ms. Kate Chamley, High Commissioner of Australia to Mauritius.

During his keynote address, Minister Ramtohul emphasized that Digitalisation now permeates every aspect of people’s lives, and the STEM Racing initiative offers a compelling mix of educational theory and real-world application in the subject. The Minister expressed his support for such initiatives, highlighting that they enhance the educational journey by helping students develop both scholarly knowledge and workplace-ready skills.

Dr Ramtohul also lauded the creativity, confidence and efforts of the different teams taking part in the STEM Challenge and praised the skills acquired in key areas such as marketing, communication, and manufacturing. The Minister also highlighted the persistent gender gap in STEM subject selection, where boys still outnumber girls, and encouraged girls to pursue STEM fields to achieve equitable representation in future STEM careers.

More than 50 students are enrolled in the competition through 10 teams and National Finals is scheduled for August 2025 during which one team will be selected to represent Mauritius at the STEM Racing Finals scheduled for September 2025 in Singapore.
