Visit of a Delegation of Entrepreneurs from Réunion Island to Mauritius

A high-level delegation from Réunion Island, comprising the President and members of the Alliance des Entreprises Océan Indien (AEOI), conducted a visit to Mauritius from 14 to 18 August 2025. The mission, led by Nadine Angelie, also included representatives from Mayotte and Madagascar. The visiting delegation featured entrepreneurs operating across diverse sectors, including construction materials manufacturing and trade, agro-industry, information technology, circular economy, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, as well as innovative support services involving utility drones.

The primary objective of the visit was to explore trade and investment opportunities between our two countries, with a particular focus on fostering joint ventures and regional development projects.

Throughout their stay, the delegation held courtesy meetings with prominent figures including His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool, President of the Republic of Mauritius; the Honourable Hambyrajen Narsinghen, Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and International Trade; and Mr. Mahen Kundasamy, Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Board (EDB). Discussions focused on revitalising bilateral relations between Mauritius and Réunion Island, with an emphasis on fostering synergies and building sustainable, mutually beneficial business partnerships.

Ms. Angelie expressed her appreciation for the insightful presentation delivered by Mr. Geerish Bucktowonsing, Director of Industry, SMEs, Freeport and Logistics. Mr. Bucktowonsing underscored Mauritius’ commitment to deepening commercial relations within the region and highlighted key areas for collaboration, particularly in the circular economy and renewable energy sectors—areas where Réunionese businesses could make valuable contributions.
