H.E. Mr. Constant-Serge BOUNDA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Congo to the Republic of Mauritius with residence in Maputo, Mozambique paid a courtesy call on the Deputy CEO of EDB, Mr. Sachin Mohabeer this morning, 10th September 2024.
During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Constant-Serge BOUNDA expressed the willingness of the Republic of Congo to renew existing ties with Mauritius and give a new impetus to the development of business ventures between Mauritius and Congo-Brazzaville. In this context, he extended an invitation to the Economic Development Board to lead an investment & trade promotion mission comprising potential Mauritian private sector operators having an interest in Congo-Brazzaville.
For his part, the Deputy CEO of EDB, Mr. Sachin Mohabeer provided an overview of the opportunities which could be explored between both countries. He reiterated EDB’s commitment to work closely with its counterpart, the API Congo to chart out a plan for potential areas of collaboration between Mauritius and Congo-Brazaville. The DCEO also expressed the possibility of hosting an inward mission with Congolese business operators in Mauritius as well as organising knowledge sharing sessions.
The discussions focused on avenues of cooperation which can be further developed in the services sector, namely in financial services sector on structuring of investments through the Mauritius International Financial Services Centre.
It should be highlighted that Congo-Brazaville has a presence in Mauritius through the operations of Paxis Invest mainly in the pharmaceutical sector.
