The same trend is being observed in the Mauritian ICT industry which has witnessed a major transformation over the years to emerge as a technology hotspot, fostering innovation, and delivering specialized solutions. Many ICT and BPO companies in Mauritius have grown from simply providing outsourced services to offering complete products, driving innovation, and taking full responsibility for business operations.
This shift is creating exciting opportunities for talent growth while also necessitating a strong focus on skill development and adaptability. Employers are more on the lookout for employees possessing a combination of three different capabilities, including technical skills, professional skills, and domain knowledge. As new technology areas have emerged to include Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Automation, Analytics and Testing, Robotics Process Automation among others, there has been an increase in demand for profiles such as security engineer, security analyst, penetration testing engineer, Cybersecurity analyst, Data analyst, Data engineer, Cloud system administrator, Digital Marketer and RPA developer among others.
The Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation is currently working on its Blueprint for the next 5 years which will not only underline the Government vision but will also serve as a guiding framework for policy development, infrastructure expansion and technological innovation across sectors.
The Economic Development Board being the focal point of contact for potential investors will continue pursuing its efforts in empowering companies to thrive in their transition while bolstering the country’s reputation as a global leader in ICT and BPO innovation.
