Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Training on Export Readiness

The ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub recently organized a Training on Export Readiness on June 16, 2023. Over 30 women-led businesses from various sectors actively participated in this program.

The participants were exposed to greater awareness and understanding on export requirements, procedures, and solutions. It was also an opportunity to assess the company’s readiness to enter regional markets, become aware of their potential export strategy and gain insights into their weaknesses and strengths.

The SheTrades Mauritius Hub is hosted by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and has been working in close collaboration with the National Women Entrepreneurs Council (NWEC) for the delivery of this training program.

The Training Guide, approved by the International Trade Centre (ITC) was delivered by Mrs. Kheeran Bahadoor, Manager at the EDB. The training sessions covered essential topics such as the opportunities in exporting, evaluating a company’s export potential, export readiness requirements, and an export readiness checklist.

In his Welcome Note, Mr. Nanda Narrainen, Head of Department for SheTrades at the EDB stressed on the importance of empowering women and reassured attendees that the SheTrades Mauritius Hub will continue providing the necessary support to upskill women entrepreneurs and provide openings to new market access.

In her Opening Remarks, Mrs. Marechal Charlotte, the Chairperson of the NWEC, stressed the importance of collaboration and encouraged women entrepreneurs to register and benefit from the EDB’s support.
