Launching of MIOT Rehab Centre in Mauritius

As part of its strategy to further contribute in the delivery of healthcare services in Mauritius, the renowned Indian hospital group MIOT International officially inaugurated its cutting-edge rehabilitation centre in Port Louis on 18 July 2025. The launch ceremony was graced by the Honourable Anil Kumar Bachoo, Minister of Health and Wellness, marking a pivotal moment in the expansion of specialized medical services in the country.

The MIOT Rehab Centre duly facilitated by the Economic Development Board, represents a major investment in Mauritius’ healthcare infrastructure, bringing world-class rehabilitation services closer to the local population and regional patients. This initiative builds upon MIOT International’s established presence in Mauritius, where the Chennai-based hospital group has been actively engaged through various medical initiatives and partnerships over recent years.

The rehabilitation centre is designed to provide comprehensive recovery services and this facility offers expert, technology-assisted rehabilitation programs led by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) physicians, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.

Advanced technology and holistic recovery Services

The new facility incorporates state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment and features modern therapeutic technologies designed to help patients regain mobility, strength, and independence following various medical conditions or injuries.

Key features of the MIOT Rehab Centre include specialized equipment for patients requiring assistance with blood pressure stabilization and weight-bearing exercises, particularly beneficial for those who have been confined to bed.

Furthermore, the Mauritius centre is equipped with next-generation telemedicine capabilities, allowing patients to access expert consultations in real-time from the comfort of their homes. This technology bridges the gap between specialized care and accessibility, ensuring seamless medical support for ongoing rehabilitation programs.

The introduction of MIOT’s rehabilitation services is expected to notably enhance Mauritius’ position as a healthcare destination. The centre will serve not only local patients but also attract medical tourists from neighbouring countries seeking high-quality, cost-effective rehabilitation services.

This initiative aligns with global trends toward specialized, technology-driven healthcare delivery, positioning both MIOT International and Mauritius at the forefront of innovative medical services in the region. With its focus on holistic, individualized treatment approaches, the facility offers new possibilities for recovery and improved well-being to numerous patients seeking to regain their quality of life through sophisticated rehabilitation services.
